Investor assessment
From pitch deck to investment decision.
The initial assessment is based on the pitch deck and information available at the time. Each later assessment supports, replaces or challenges earlier assumptions as management responses and due diligence evidence are received. Provalio preserves the resulting changes in valuation, ownership, risk and recommendation.
The investor assessment process
The process moves from initial pitch deck review through to portfolio monitoring. Each stage builds on the evidence and conclusions of the previous one.
01
Pitch deck review
Review the pitch deck and extract the stated information. Identify what is stated, what is missing and what requires evidence.
02
Mandate fit
Assess whether the opportunity fits the investor mandate across stage, sector, cheque size, territory and ownership.
03
Management questions
Prepare questions suited to the company stage and the investor mandate. Questions are triggered by stage, sector, pitch deck content, missing evidence and identified risks.
04
Stage-specific assessment
Apply the diagnostic assessment suited to the company stage. Assessment dimensions differ for pre-seed, seed, venture growth, growth capital, minority private equity and buyout.
05
Evidence review
Review management responses and supporting evidence. Management statements remain distinguishable from supporting evidence.
06
Progressive valuation
Assess valuation using methods permitted for the stage. Update as information improves. Previous assessments are preserved, not overwritten.
07
Pre-money and post-money assessment
Calculate pre-money and post-money values, investor ownership and dilution. Primary and secondary capital are distinguished.
08
Due diligence
Progress through diligence domains, record findings, track resolution and assess valuation, transaction and structuring effects.
09
Investment Committee paper
Prepare the Investment Committee paper with investment thesis, valuation range, risks, mitigations, conditions and recommendation.
10
Conditions and completion
Record conditions precedent, outstanding matters and the approval decision with named decision makers.
11
Value creation
Track the value creation plan, monitor delivery against milestones and assess progress.
12
Portfolio monitoring
Monitor portfolio performance, risk and value after investment completion.
